I’ve had an interesting experience during the past 24 hours. I just found out that someone, we’ll call them Person A, who posted on this blog several months ago was not who they represented themselves to be. We’ll call the real person Person B. That is, Person A submitted comments on two postings pretending to be Person B, and due to the negative nature of the comments this affected the relationship I have with Person B, up until yesterday when I found out that Person B had never been to my blog before.
I’m tempted to name names because this isn’t the first negative experience I’ve had with Person A, and in fact I consider Person A to be a criminal who should be locked up to protect society. I’m not saying that in a harsh, bitter, vengeful way, I’m saying that the way I would say it about someone who has 10 DUI’s or who sells crack to kids. I don’t get angry about such things, but I do think these people should be taken off the streets for the safety of those around them. In the case of Person A he (and some cohorts, there’s enough blame to go around) has caused significant financial harm to literally hundreds of people and businesses to the tune of millions of dollars and he has done it apparently without remorse or conscience. To me, that’s the same as stealing millions of dollars, in which case the law would require that a penalty be applied. But I’m less concerned about justice being served than future persons being protected. So you might say “Well what good is it to say all this and not mention who it is you’re talking about?” Well, that’s the thing, I’d like to, but I’m hesitant to name names. We’ll see.

Ha, HA!
I knew that Person A was up to no good again. Bring him to Fight Club and kick his ass there.
(Just another innocent Person B.)
Sheesh. That’s heinous. The web is such a sticky place for false identities. Hopefully this individual will get off the wickedness bandwagon and find something worthwhile to do with his/her time. Eventually he/she will learn that doing mean things leads to misery and loneliness. Nobody wants to live, work, or play with such an individual.

Dear Person A,
Knock it off.
Love,
Society
Man oh man, that’s one way to confuse people. It’s so hard to trust people these days, but I try to think everyone is good no matter who they are or what they say, and just let things play out. No sense getting worked up over people who may or may not hate you. But yea, people who do this really need to get a life.
That blows. I hope you and Person B (I think…I got a little lost) reconcile and see it as a misunderstanding. I used to have one or two grudges, and have since realized, grudges suck. I hope Person B doesn’t harbor resentment when the truth is exposed. Anyway, best of luck and continued success for you.
I think you mean Person A. Oh wait, no you mean Person B. Yeah, we’re all reconciled and such. That only took a few minutes. At first I got confused and thought you were talking about Person B, and I was thinking “No, I don’t think you can sign nine copies of a contract and then not do one lick of what’s in them and call it a misunderstanding.” Unless I was the one who misunderstood what Person A’s intentions were when he was signing those contracts, which I did.
I adopt a more relativist view on the whole situation. I have the luxury of knowing Josh, Person A, and Person B quite well. (Also, thanks for leaving me, Person X, out of all this…) Each probably doesn’t consciously think that they are in the wrong at all in the whole situation, and yet when combined, each thinks the others are heinous evil-doers. This is one small example of why the world won’t work with too many people living on it.
That’s all well and good, but the thing you have to understand is that I really am right.
This sounds like what happened on Paul Allen’s blog:

Yes. Coincidentally I just read that because the title sounded related and I posted a comment on Paul’s blog about two minutes before you posted that link.
Is social media going to kill SEO?
