When I first heard about business school consultants it sounded a little shady to me. But I had lunch with a new friend last week and he recommended that when I reapply to HBS I should use one. He worked for a business school consultancy and they had a 90% success rate. He said sometimes former admissions office workers become business school consultants. After talking with him, my interest was definitely piqued, but I’m still not 100% convinced it’s worth the cost. But I’m sure you business school consultants would like to prove that you’re worth what you’re paid, so I’m offering you the opportunity here, in a public forum, to advise me and work with me as though I were a client of yours. You’ll be able to read my rejected application to the Harvard Business School, and tell me what I did wrong and what I did right. Then you’ll gather whatever information you need from me and tell me what I should do in order to get in the next time. Whether I take your advice or not is one thing, but at least you’ll be able to show off your skills and perhaps pick up a few clients in the process.
This blog receives hundreds of visitors each day who are interested in getting into the top business schools, so any advice you dispense will be seen by thousands of prospective customers during the next 12 months. If you are interested, shoot me an email telling me why I should choose you for this experiment.
