SEO Training

Part of the service we will be offering at our subsidiary The SEO Consultants (the site is definitely under construction at the moment) is search engine optimization training. We’ve seen instances where companies hire an outside firm for a period of time, but then realize their need for SEO services is large enough that they want to hire one or more full-time employees, or they want an existing full-time employee to take over SEO efforts. In many cases the full-time employee has minimal SEO skills and therein lies the need for additional training.

Our question is what format of training will be in greatest demand, and what’s the price point?

For example, training could take the form of an ongoing monthly service wherein our team gives customized advice to clients based on the specific needs they have that month. This training could last for 3, 6, 12 months or more, depending on the need.

The other way SEO training services could be provided is in a one-time seminar or classroom format. We could meet with the client at a predefined location and run through SEO material for an hour, a day, or multiple days, depending on the need.

We can currently provide all of these services and will probably provide all of these SEO services, so the question is not so much which services to provide, but which services to focus on based on consumer demand.

The second part of the question is pricing. SEOmoz provides on-site SEO training at the following price points:

  • Half-Day Training (3-4 hours) – $10,000 – $18,000
  • Full-Day Training (6-8 hours) – $14,000 – $24,000
  • Two-Day Training (12-16 hours over 2 days) $20,000 – $36,000

Our pricing would certainly be lower since we don’t have the clout that SEOmoz does just yet, but how much lower is the question.

Feel free to chime in with any thoughts.

    Josh:

I have lots of thoughts on this. Maybe I’ll sent them over in an email or perhaps we can meet for lunch sometime.
