Linkedin.com 500 Club

Posted September 13, 2007 under Miscellaneous

I just logged into my Linkedin.com account and noticed I have exactly 500 connections, which is something of a milestone for me, I suppose. Do I get to join some sort of special club or get an award or anything?

And I'm proud to say that most of those 500 connections are people I actually know and want to be connected to. Sure, I've accepted some connections from people who were out to connect to anybody they could, just to build up their connection number, but I started turning down those people a long time ago.

The funny thing about Linkedin.com is that it seems like such an awesome website, and yet I've gotten so little out of it. I mean, it's been fun, but if I try to trace any benefit to myself or my business from it, I can't say that I've ever signed up a client because of Linkedin.com, although I do believe I was able to find someone through it whose contact info I had lost and who later became an employee.

Does anyone have any success stories about using Linkedin?

Congrats. I just passed 100.

I used to be really stingy about linking to anyone. Either that or I'm just 20% as popular as you.

I tend to keep linked in as a type of business contact appointment book. I've yet to request a pass-through request though I've forwarded a few. I have responded to some questions that went out from my contacts.
