A week or so ago I stated that I thought some of my blogs had been hammered in the search engine results pages (SERPs) because of the theme I was using and so I was looking for a new and SEO friendly WordPress theme. While perhaps true that my theme wasn’t the best for SEO, I found that modifying the theme I had to be more SEO-friendly was more fun (i.e. easier, less of a hassle) than finding a new theme. The best resource I found on this subject was Yoast’s WordPress SEO tips. The tips are clear, concise, and fairly easy to implement. He has links to all the plugins he references, making it easy to go and download them.
The one thing that Yoast didn’t mention, and with just cause since it’s not a general SEO tip but only something I was specifically interested in, was how to put a different number of posts on the homepage than on the archive/category pages.
But I’ve got it all figured out now, I believe. Now I just have to sit back and see if everything I’ve changed during the past two days does the trick.
