Overture Keyword Selector Tool

Posted February 17, 2006 under Search Engine Optimization

Need suggestions for keywords and you wish you knew what people were searching for? Yes, to anyone who's involved with SEO this is very basic, but for those starting out this is still a helpful tool.

Simple go over to http://inventory.overture.com and type in a keyword. It will give you a list of keyword combinations that include your keyword along with the numbers of searches performed during the past month for those keywords.

For example, type in "search engine optimization" and you get this list:

Searches done in January 2006
Count Search Term
93753 engine optimization search
28373 company engine optimization search
19442 engine optimization search service
10353 engine firm optimization search
5650 engine optimization search specialist
5352 dsl engine optimization search
4757 affordable engine optimization search
4540 engine optimization search site web
3665 engine optimization search seo
3382 certification engine optimization search
3282 engine optimization ranking search

And so forth...

But you probably aren't running an SEO company, you're probably selling something else, like skateboards or something, so of course you'd type something in like "skateboards" and see what comes up.

Anyway, it's a handy dandy little tool, and I like that they don't make you type in any security code and all they put on the page is what you need. I guess that's why I keep using it.
