Adding Products from Doba to Shopify

Since there is no direct integration between Shopify and Doba you have to copy over everything manually. This isn’t too tough…unless you need to do it for a few hundred products. Adding a single product is fairly straightforward. You download the image from the Doba site (BTW, the “download image” link doesn’t work in FireFox, so you have to right click, click on “view background image”, and then right click and save that), then upload it to the new product form on Shopify, and then you copy and paste all the info from the Doba site. Once you get used to it, you can add a product in less than a minute. Again, not a big deal unless you’re dealing with a lot of products.

If anyone has a better way to add products than this one-at-a-time method, please let me know.

Josh, does Shopify have a bulk product import function?

We have an intern working on some things this summer to be able to pre-format Doba data for various systems that aren’t integrated through our API. If they do, let me know, and we can see about getting them on the list to do.

Yes, there is a bulk import function wherein you can use a CSV file with links to the images, which Shopify will then download. Everything would need to be formatted correctly to make it work seamlessly, but I’m guessing that wouldn’t be a huge issue for you guys. It would definitely speed things up for people in my situation.

Any progress on getting around this problem? Thanks for all your posts on this project. I hope you can find a solution and start selling soon.

What we really need is for Shopify to dedicate some resources towards integrating with Doba’s API. That would be the ideal solution, but as far as I know nothing of the sort is in the works.
