Hauppauge WinTV USB2 and Windows 7

A few years ago I bought the WinTV USB2 device from Hauppauge so that I could connect a DVD player to my laptop. At the time, I was running Windows XP, and it worked beautifully. But when I upgraded a few months ago to Windows 7, this was the one piece of hardware I couldn’t get to work. Since then, I’ve searched for solutions, but to no avail. I can install the WinTV software that is recommended for my hardware, but when I go to run it I get an error saying “Error: can not locate Capture filter (Hauppauge PVR USB2 AVS Video Capture)”.

Anyone else been able to figure this out, or do I just need to upgrade to the newest hardware? Anyone else have a good solution for connecting a DVD player to a laptop?

I’ve got the Hauppauge HVR-2250 – a PCIe internal tuner (dual tuner, actually), and it works great on Win 7. But, that’s a different animal. But, man – I love doing my own DVR. Pair that with a 1.5GB hard drive, and the options are endless…

I had got a hauppauge wintv usb2 stick bundled with my hp dv6226tx laptop, which had vista as the OS. I changed OS to Win 7, and this hardware doesnt work. hauppauge support site doesn’t provide updated drivers for windows 7. Is there any solution to this?
