It’s Time for the vSpring Top 100 Again

Every year vSpring Capital accepts nominations for the top 100 entrepreneurs related to Utah. You don’t have to be in Utah to get on the list, nor do you actually have to be an active entrepreneur running a business. This is the stated criteria: Provide the names of individuals that you believe are most likely to lead a successful venture as CEO or CTO in the next 5-7 years in IT or Biotech industries.

You can nominate up to 20 people, and you are invited to nominate yourself. There’s no shame in it. If you are nominated then you will participate in a peer-voting process to choose the 100 top candidates. Ready to vote? Then git ‘er done.

Oh, and don’t send me any “I’ll vote for you if you vote for me” requests. It’s not worth it to me. I can, however, be bought off with a good steak dinner.

Here is the full text of the email I received from vSpring regarding the v100.

2007 v|100 Nominations

It’s time for 2007 v|100 nomination submissions. We need your help in nominating candidates for the 2007 vSpring Capital Top 100 Venture Entrepreneurs or v|100.

Nomination Process
Here is how to nominate:

1. Follow this Link:

https://www.allegiancetech.com/app/activesurvey/takeSurvey.do?SurveyID=623lp3LIlnm5L8

2. Provide the names of individuals that you believe fit this criterion:

- Individuals who are most likely to lead a successful venture as CEO or CTO in the next 5-7 years in IT or Biotech industries

Additional considerations:

  • Nominees do not currently need to hold titles of CEO or CTO
  • Nominees need not have current involvement in a startup
  • Individuals should have ties to Utah, but are not required to be a Utah resident
  • Candidates and v|100 members from last year are eligible for voting again this year
  • Nominations must be received by Tuesday, January 2, 2007

How nominations are used

Responses to this email will be used to assemble a list of candidate nominees. These candidate nominees will then vote amongst themselves based on the above criteria. The results of this peer-election portion of the voting process will determine the vSpring Capital Top 100 Venture Entrepreneurs for 2007. If they choose, these top 100 finalists will have the opportunity to withdraw prior to publication and recognition.

About the v|100

The vSpring Capital Top 100 Venture Entrepreneurs or v|100, is a community-nominated and peer-selected organization of the top venture professionals with ties to the state of Utah. With a total of 203 members to date, the v|100 was created when the vSpring partners noticed the need for an organization that could offer recognition to the state’s talented entrepreneurs and provide them with opportunities to partner, collaborate and maximize the chance of success. The v|100 is designed to help locate and cultivate relationships among top CEO and CTO talent. 2003 was the inaugural year of the program and thanks to the participation and input from people like you, the program has been an amazing success.

Since its inception in 2003, the v|100 has accomplished the following:

  • Created a unique, self-directed community in which the v|100 decide how to best use the organization’s resources
  • Increased visibility and collaboration amongst Utah’s top venture entrepreneurs
  • Increased networking and dialogue with their peers and with vSpring partners
  • Raised the profile of these talented individuals across the broader business ecosystem and particularly among local and national investors with interest in Utah

The v|100 has become integral in helping to develop and mature Utah’s startup ecosystem and in building trusted and informal relationships with top executives and technical talent in the region. To learn more about the v|100 see below or click on this link to see the feature article on the v|100 in connect magazine: http://www.connect-utah.com/article.asp?r=340

Please feel free to forward this email to anyone that you believe may have visibility into the above Utah technology community. Thank you for your efforts in building the Utah entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Sincerely,
