I agree. Another problem I noticed was the prolific use of cameos, especially in Mark Hale's movies. Those may be just great for people from Utah, but there are more mormons outside of Utah than in it now, and my parents in Texas had no idea who some of the people were, much less why some of the tongue in cheek remarks directed towards these cameo performances seemed like they SHOULD be funny, but weren't (as opposed to the regular jokes which SHOULD seem funny, and aren't).

I couldn't agree more. I (for some odd reason) watched (or rather started watching) the Home Teachers...GAG!! My wife and I turned it off after about 15 minutes and watched the Food Network. That's when I decided to actually believe what all my friends were saying about the latest Mormon movies. They should've stopped after Saints & Soldiers and The Work and the Glory 1.

For the record, both of the previous comments were approved at the same time, which means that Russ's "here, here" was posted prior to his seeing Ben's "hear, hear" and therefore the fact they both used the same phraseology to describe their feelings is purely coincidental.

Also, for the record, <a href="http://www.straightdope.com/mailbag/mhear.html" rel="nofollow">"hear, hear" is correct</a>, although it is possible that Russ was referring to his current geographic locale and is simply agreeing that Utah is indeed the physical location of the problem described in the post.
