This is something I’ve been wanting to do for a while. Introducing the Utah Business Book Club. We meet once a month for lunch on the first Thursday of each month. During the month leading up to the meeting, we focus on a topic or theme, as opposed to a specific book. When we meet, we share the various books we’ve read and the thoughts we’ve had. This way we are exposed to multiple books on a topic each month, rather than just a single book.
Anyone is welcome to attend (click on the link above to join our Facebook group), although I hope to attract a core group of entrepreneurs, business owners, high-level execs, venture capital/private equity types, etc. because the general focus will be on how to start and run businesses.
I’m starting this because I love reading, I run a business, I’m trying to start other businesses, and I’ve found that there are two primary ways I can do the right things and avoid doing the wrong things without having to learn from personal experience; 1) read books, 2) talk to people. This book club helps with both.
We will probably hold most of our meetings in the Draper/Sandy area so that people from both Utah and Salt Lake counties can attend, and also because I’m in Draper and I’m starting the club so I get to set the rules. Any questions?
