I guess it wasn't the last time for the old design, or maybe this one just went undiscovered for a few years. Thanks to an anonymous source - http://www.builderpartnerships.com.

Well, apparently the new website design is attractive to rip-off artists as well.

This kind of thing, the pillaging of web pirates, has happened to me several times. I just blogged about one instance I noticed this weekend that happened with one of my old designs, and for a public Utah company none-the-less. Perhaps MWi should contact them, and see if they are interested in a truly "unique" design, rather than a pilfered one? Can you say "new business"?

It's getting close...I'm pretty sure it will be ready next week. Just need to write a little more content.

I periodically check mwi.com for the new design. When will it go live?

I agree the layout could almost be coincidence, except when you bring color into it then the odds of the exact colors being used with that layout are next to nil. I'm still amazed at how much I see out there that is fairly unique.

As for our new site, yes, it's pretty vanilla, but I can confidently say it came out of my own head, and if it looks like anything else out there it's either coincidental or subconcious.

The bird image is particularly ironic, indeed. :o) But how many different layout schemes are there? Of course, they have ripped off your design, I'm not suggesting they spontaneously created it. But it's a top bar and four uneven columns in a couple rows. Say that's one of a possible 10,000 substantively different layouts. At some point, with over 6 billion pages indexed, each of those 10,000 different layouts will be used and tweaked slightly many, many times. It's in the slight tweaks that a design really matches a need or an organization.

(For what it's worth -- which I admit is not much -- the new MWI layout closely matches any of a number of stock Wordpress or MovableType templates, with images replaced and colors changed.)

Interesting, their site was down for redesigning, and now it's back up, but nothing much has changed other than a few images and some content, but they're still using the ripped-off design.
