If you visit this website www.betterwebsite.com and think “Hmm, sounds interesting” as you put put your right hand to your chin, look up and left, and slowly nod your head while considering the content of said website seriously, then you do not have what it takes to gain any measure of sucess online. That is, unless you’re going to run a scam operation that preys on the ignorant.
Other websites you shouldn’t trust to help you with your website include www.onlinesuccesstactics.com and www.techtamers.com. Why?
1. Photos of people holding buckets of money. These images are more representative of what you’ll be giving out rather than taking in.
2. Other photos with lots of dollar bills in them.
3. Poor website design.
4. Some of the people involved with these websites are apparently over 40 years old, and let’s just dispense with pleasantries–most people over 40 don’t have a clue about doing business online. I said most, not all, before any 40+ types get offended. If you get the Internet then you already know you’re the exception.
5. Mention of Robert Allen. This real estate guru has his name on more spam than anyone else in the world, and I’m not exaggerating. Check your inbox, you probably have ten spam emails with this guy’s name on them right now. Anyone who holds up Robert Allen as an example to follow is advocating sending out spam, which is not only annoying but illegal. Unfortunately the minimum penalty doesn’t involve death or torture.
6. Spelling the word “success” like this: “$uccess”
I don’t really mind these companies going around making these claims because the clientele I work with never considers them anyway, so it’s not competition for me, but I am trying to instill just a tiny bit of helpful knowledge to any would-be small business owners who might get sucked into this stuff and lose a bunch of money. If you’re not prepared and you’re trying to do things on a shoe-string budget you’re bound to lose more money than you ever planned on spending and feel ripped off because it didn’t work, when in reality your plan is flawed from the get-go.
If you’ve got a small business and want to succeed online go find someone who’s done it before, I mean really has done it and isn’t just telling you they have when they haven’t, and talk to them about their experience.
Josh, I just found a flyer on my windshield saying I could make $200,000/month and I don’t even have to do any work! (printed and no expense spared on crappy paper in black and white) Ah the irony.
