Great post. The other day my mother went to the trouble of leaving a 5 minute message describing an interview on National Public Radio (NPR) about how medical and scientific imaging is being pushed and advanced under the USTAR (the Governor's Office of Economic Development) initiative and how the University of Utah and Utah State University are combining efforts to build a state-of-the-art program in brain and diagnostic imaging.

I already knew about the initiative because for 6 years I worked with the very people that started the Utah Center for Advanced Imaging Research (UCAIR) at the University of Utah. Some of those very same people were involved in my research and served as thesis advisors throughout my illustrious career at the U.

Of course, the story doesn't end here. My mother (persistence pays off) called to 'follow up" and proceeded to describe what she had stated in her voice mail earlier...again. Why did I resist the urge to not answer the phone? Her number was displayed on my caller ID afterall? The string of responses went like this "I know mother", "I know mother", "yes, I know Mother", "yes Mother, I listened to your voicemail Mother".

To get to the point of this comment. My mother suggested that maybe I could get a job and why don’t I call ‘those’ people and just get a job, you know go back to academia it is such a respectable job after all. I tried to tell her that I have a job remember? That small startup company that I have been devoting every aspect of my life to for the past 15 months? You know, the black hole that follows me around with a sucking sound?

I felt like an entrepreneur at that moment. I was in that 90 percent plus or minus 10 percent of feeling like a failure but I am determined to work at it anyway.

That would be the one.

<a href="http://www.ussynthetic.com/" rel="nofollow"></a><a href="http://www.ussynthetic.com/" rel="nofollow">http://www.ussynthetic.com/</a>

I searched all over Google for them, but couldn't find them even though I knew I was looking for a diamond manufacturing company in Utah. Probably because their website isn't optimized in the least for search engines. Maybe I should hit them up...
